ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Claire Griffin is an independent teacher & consultant and teaches Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness at Work Courses & Workshops. She is a qualified MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) teacher with the Mindful Academy, Solterreno Retreat Centre, Spain and recently returned to Solterreno to co-teach a Mindfulness retreat course there.
Claire is also a certified to teach the WorkplaceMT course, an evidence based Mindfulness course which and has been adapted for the workplace by The Mindfulness Exchange, a spin-off from Oxford University’s, Oxford Mindfulness Centre
Bruce Greenhalgh has supported and trained managers and professionals internationally at all levels in global organisations for over thirty years. He is a certified mindfulness teacher by Bangor University in the UK and for the Search Inside Yourself program developed at Google which aims to develop business leaders through mindfulness. He is also a psychotherapist and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development. He currently heads up BT’s Employee Assistance service.
The evening kicked off with refreshments & networking then Claire and Bruce talked us through the benefits of mindfulness and how practicing this on a regular basis can enhance a person’s ability to be fully present – more aware of what they are experiencing, while they are experiencing it.

WHY IS MINDFULNESS SO IMPORTANT NOW?
Bruce explained that Mindfulness is not just a ‘nice to have’ tool at our disposal, that in this demanding world, with 1 in 4 people likely to experience a mental health issue every year, it is essential to keep our brains free from toxic stress.
It is important to build skillful mental habits and the more you practice the stronger you become. Regular training will enable you to tune into your body and sense when something isn’t right. This is your body telling you there is a problem and you need to listen to those early warnings.
Regular practice increases mental strength allowing you to bounce back quicker and having that space gives you the freedom to hold on for a moment and RESPOND rather REACT to a situation.
